Investing in Futures: OURCU Awards $50,000 in Scholarships to Local Students

At Our Community Credit Union, we believe that investing in education is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen our communities, and this year, we’re proud to celebrate an incredible group of students doing just that.

In 2026, OURCU awarded a total of $50,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors across our region. Each recipient will receive a $5,000 scholarship to support their next chapter, whether that’s attending a college, university, or vocational/technical program this fall.

These scholarships recognize not only academic achievement, but also dedication, resilience, and a commitment to building a better future. All of these values reflect the strong spirit of our membership!

We are honored to recognize the following students:

  • Aubrie Coots, Shelton High School

  • William Webb, Shelton High School

  • Gisell Ruby Nunez Acosta, Shelton High School

  • Caleb Edelen, Centralia Community College

  • Lorenzo G Battisti, Yelm High School

  • Kaitlyn Trail, Montesano High School

  • Roslind Newbill, Montesano High School

  • Roxana Ramirez De Jesus, Elma High Schools

  • Koltan Morrow, Elma High School

  • Diana Trundle-Strachan, Vashon Island High School

Each of these students represents the very best of our communities, and we are proud to be part of their educational journey.

As tuition costs continue to rise, access to education can feel out of reach for many families. That’s why OURCU established its scholarship program, to support members who are working toward a degree or career certification and to help remove barriers along the way.

From our main branch in Shelton to seven additional locations across Mason County, East Grays Harbor County, Vashon Island, and Thurston County, OURCU is proud to serve and support the communities we call home.

This scholarship program is just one of the many ways we strive to live out our mission of people helping people.
