Bert Fisher to Retire from Our Community Credit Union; Ryan Drake Appointed New President/CEO

On December 31st 2023, Bert Fisher, President/CEO for the past 13 years, will retire. Ryan Drake, currently Chief Financial Officer (CFO), has been appointed by the Board of Directors as his replacement and will be promoted to CEO on July 1, 2023, as he begins the transition to replace Fisher as President at the end of the year. 

Fisher’s long and successful career with the credit union began in 2005 when he was hired on as Chief Operation Officer (COO).  He was appointed President / CEO in 2011 to replace Joe Robertson, who retired after 35 years of employment at OCCU. Fisher has been an active part of the Credit Union industry particularly in the GoWest Credit Union league, which serves credit unions in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and Arizona and as an advocate for credit unions on both Capitol Hill and in the community.  Today, under Fisher’s expert leadership and guidance, the Credit Union has grown from just over $200 million in assets to more than $600 million in assets and 35,000 members.

Ryan Drake joined the Our Community Credit Union leadership team in 2012 when he was hired as Chief Financial Officer. As CFO, Drake oversees Accounting, Lending, Informational Technology (IT), and the Compliance Department and has immersed himself in all phases of the credit union’s operations.  Drake has over 22 years’ experience in the credit union industry and is a 1991 Boise State graduate with a degree in Business Administration (Finance) BBA and a graduate of Western CUNA Management School. Ryan Drake has been an active member in the communities Our Community Credit Union serves, he serves on the Governmental Affairs committee at GoWest Credit Union League, and has actively lobbied for Credit Unions on numerous occasions in Olympia and in Washington D.C.
